Driving: A Person’s Ultimate Freedom

Driving: The Ultimate Freedom

There are few things in life as liberating as being able to get in your car and go anywhere you want, whenever you want. For most of us, our first slice of freedom comes the day we turn 16 and learn how to drive for the first time. Suddenly, our world of a few blocks that we can reach by foot or on a bicycle expands to the edge of the horizon. Driving is the ultimate freedom.

We live in a world where most people see their vehicles as an appliance that can get them from point A to point B. There is nothing wrong with this point of view, as we all need to be able to get to work and run errands. However, our cars are more than just transportation. Our cars are an extension of who we are. You may not even realize it but the car you choose, actually says a lot about you as a person. Owning a car not only allows you to get where you need to be but it also unlocks doors and opportunities that can help expand your horizons.

With the stresses of work, responsibilities, and problems weighing you down, sometimes we just need to unwind and re-center ourselves. People do this through a multitude of ways, such as going on a vacation, visiting a spa, or simply taking a day off to sleep in. But have you considered just getting into your car and going for a drive with no destination in mind? There is something peaceful about driving just to drive. Whether you are going for a casual cruise through a nice backroad or cruising down the freeway at three in the morning. Driving can unlock a sense of tranquillity. It is just you, the car, and your favorite songs on a trip to nowhere.

Being able to just go, it does not matter where; just having the ability to go wherever the wind takes you can be a life-changing experience. It can be terribly easy to feel like you are trapped by work and other responsibilities and sometimes you may need to go for a drive to remind yourself that you are not in a prison of your own making. Driving allows us to take a step back from the rush of daily life to reflect and refocus.
