How Often Should You Tune-up Your Car?

Let’s say you’ve recently completed your course in your online traffic school, you have your parent’s car ready and are eagerly starting your drive, but suddenly your car breaks down as you are about to traverse the highway. You’re bound for a stressful situation just as you have started driving! Avoid situations like these by keeping your car well-maintained.

Older cars need a tune-up for every 30,000-45,000 miles. While modern cars don’t need a tune-up in the traditional sense, they still need an oil change and replacements of engine air filters, spark plugs, and several other items.

Some items that may need to be cleaned or replaced include:

  • Fuel and air filters
  • Throttle body
  • Battery
  • Timing and drive belts

Some signs that a car needs a tune-up includes:

  • The engine does not start as easily as before
  • Running rough especially when started
  • Occasional misfiring especially in humid weather
  • Lack of power
  • Poor gas mileage
