Items to Tick off Your Car Safety Checklist

Car safety goes beyond just buckling up your seatbelt and checking your mirrors. As a safe driving school in CA, we always remind our students to have regular car safety checks. These ensure that your car is functioning fine and helps prevent accidents along the way.

Here are some of the items we recommend you tick off your car safety checklist:

  • Tires
Make sure that your tires haven’t gone “bald” and that it has no leaks, holes, tears, or other issues. Also, check for the tire pressure.
  • Lights
Make sure your headlights, taillights, brake lights, and turn signal lights work and that they’re not cloudy or dim.
  • Look for leaks
This can be harmless condensation from air conditioning but this can also be antifreeze, brake fluid, or transmission fluid which are huge problems.
  • Battery
Corrosion around the battery or struggles when starting your car can be signs that you need to replace your battery.
  • Hoses and belts
You don’t need to be a mechanic. Just give the hoses and belts under the hood for signs of frays or damage.
